Discuss the prevention of vertical transmission of HBV.
Review approaches for avoiding the development of drug resistance during treatment of chronic hepatitis B, and for treating patients infected with lamivudine-resistant HBV.
Describe the results of recent studies of antiviral agents for the treatment of chronic hepatitis B, including adefovir dipivoxil, entecavir, telbivudine, and lamivudine as well as peginterferon and standard interferon.
