Impact of Therapeutic Complexity on Practice Patterns for MBC in the United States: Results of a 2-Phase National Study

PDF

This poster was presented in December 2015 at the 38th San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium meeting in San Antonio, Texas. We conducted a national needs assessment study among medical oncologists, nurse practitioners, and nurse navigators in the United States who care for patients with metastatic breast cancer (MBC) to identify practice performance gaps and critical education needs. Our findings indicate that clinicians are challenged to remain current with and incorporate best practices regarding available treatment options and side effect management into the care of patients with MBC. Given the increasing pace of therapeutic discoveries and expedited FDA approvals, this challenge will likely increase with important implications for continuing professional development and educational programs.
