Target Audience

This activity is intended for healthcare professionals who treat patients with narcolepsy, including sleep specialists, pulmonologists, psychiatrists, neurologists, primary care physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, pharmacists, and physician associates.

Program Learning Goal

The goal of this activity is to improve the knowledge and competence of HCPs on the topic of cardiovascular risk and narcolepsy to optimize treatment for patients with narcolepsy.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Summarize the association between narcolepsy, idiopathic hypersomnia, and cardiovascular risk, with a focus on underlying pathophysiological mechanisms

  • Evaluate current evidence-based recommendations for minimizing cardiovascular risks in patients with narcolepsy and idiopathic hypersomnia

  • Design individualized treatment plans for patients with narcolepsy and idiopathic hypersomnia that incorporate cardiovascular risk management alongside symptom control
