This module reviews the rationale for guidance from the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD), European Association for the Study of the Liver (EASL), and Asian Pacific Association for the Study of the Liver (APASL) on managing chronic HBV infection and hepatitis delta virus (HDV) infection. Note that recommendations from these associations differ for multiple patient scenarios. A second component of this educational program is the “Hep B Consult: US, European, and Asian-Pacific Guideline Recommendations on Whether and How to Treat HBV and HDV.” With this tool, you can enter your patient’s specific characteristics through simple menus and then see key guideline recommendations; you are able to select the guidelines most relevant to your own practice.

This module is divided into 4 sections: one to highlight the importance of screening for hepatitis delta infection, one for US HBV and HDV recommendations, one for European HBV and HDV recommendations, and one for Asian-Pacific HBV and HDV recommendations. Using the navigational menu, choose the section most appropriate for you.

The key points discussed in this module are illustrated with selected thumbnails from the accompanying downloadable slideset. The complete PowerPoint slideset can be found here or downloaded by clicking any of the slide thumbnails in the activity.
