PrEP to Prevent HIV: Prescribing PrEP in Asia

In this didactic module, learn how to start providing PrEP for key populations, with a focus on the Asia-Pacific Region. This module includes  discussion of which regimens are considered appropriate for specific populations, baseline testing and subsequent monitoring, common adverse events of oral and injectable agents and tips to minimize them, and considerations to guide individualized choices of regimen based on people’s preferences, lifestyle, and living circumstances.

Target Audience

This activity is intended for healthcare professionals working in the public or private sectors who provide care for people at risk of HIV infection, as well as trained community lay PrEP providers engaged with community-led PrEP delivery.

Program Learning Goal

The goal of this activity is to improve learners’ knowledge of the safety, efficacy and practical administration of PrEP, and their competence in starting to prescribe PrEP and scaling it within their practice.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Take steps to start providing PrEP for key populations who can benefit, as a crucial component of reducing barriers to PrEP uptake

  • Apply a solid understanding of PrEP regimens and essential aspects of PrEP delivery to proactively incorporate PrEP into services for key populations
