Target Audience

This program is intended for advance practice nurses who treat older patients at risk for tardive dyskinesia.

Program Learning Goal

The goal of this program is to improve the knowledge, competence, and performance of learners in an effort to optimize treatment for patients with tardive dyskinesia (TD).

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Identify factors that put older individuals at risk for TD

  • Interpret screening tools for the identification of TD, including patient and caregiver reports

  • Assess the safety and efficacy of VMAT2 inhibitors in the management of TD in older adults and special populations

  • Construct an individualized treatment plan for patients with TD with age-related or other special characteristics
