Goal Statement
The goal of this program is to improve the knowledge and competence of learners in an effort to optimize treatment for patients with agitation in Alzheimer's disease.

Target Audience
This program is intended for healthcare professionals who care for patients with AAD in the long-term care setting, including geriatric psychiatrists, long-term care physicians, nurse practitioners, physician associates, and pharmacists.

Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Describe the burden of untreated AAD in the long-term care setting

  • Employ evidence-based tools for the identification of AAD symptoms

  • Analyze the limitations of historical treatment options for AAD, including efficacy and safety of atypical antipsychotics

  • Evaluate the latest clinical evidence for new and emerging options for the treatment of AAD
