Goal
The goal of this program is to improve the knowledge, competence, and performance of primary care providers to optimize treatment of patients with T2D and overweight/obesity. 

Target Audience
This program is intended for US primary care physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician associates.

Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Evaluate the pathophysiology of obesity in the progression of diabetes
  • Develop comprehensive treatment plans for patients with T2D and overweight/obesity
  • Compare the efficacy and safety of T2D treatments with weight loss benefits
  • Select T2D treatments that reflect guideline recommendations and individual patient needs
  • Incorporate shared decision-making techniques into the management of with patients with T2D
  • Apply strategies to improve adherence to treatment plans for T2D and weight management

American Board of Internal Medicine Maintenance of Certification
