When Every Second Counts: The Latest Data and Expert Guidance on Antiplatelet Therapy Reversal for Surgical Professionals

This interactive session will explore evidence-based strategies for antiplatelet reversal in cardiothoracic surgery, focusing on balancing bleeding and thrombotic risks. An expert faculty will review current strategies and unmet needs in antiplatelet therapy, the latest approaches and clinical data on antiplatelet reversal agents, and guidance on integrating antiplatelet therapy reversal agents into urgent and emergent surgical settings. Attendees will gain actionable insights to enhance patient safety and surgical outcomes.

This industry symposium will be held in conjunction with the STS Annual Meeting. It is not part of the official STS scientific program.

Continuing Medical Education (CME) credit for this activity is not offered by STS.

The goal of this program is to improve the knowledge and competence of learners in an effort to optimize treatment for patients with cardiovascular disease. 

Target Audience
This educational program is intended for cardiothoracic surgeons, general surgeons, anesthesiologists, oncologists, cardiologists, pulmonologists, radiologists, and other surgical professionals who care for patients on antiplatelet therapy who are experiencing or are at risk of life-threatening bleeding. 

Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Identify the mechanistic and pharmacokinetic properties of existing antiplatelet medications
  • Recognize deficiencies in bleeding management for patients undergoing antiplatelet therapy
  • Interpret the latest clinical research on current and new antiplatelet therapy reversal agents to ensure their timely and appropriate use in urgent and emergent surgical settings
