Conquering Obesity: Equipping Primary Care Providers on the Frontline

Join us for a live virtual conference designed to equip primary care providers with the skills to implement evidence-based care and improve patient outcomes for patients living with obesity. Expert faculty will provide clinical insights on obesity management, and learners will have the chance to test their obesity knowledge by discussing patient cases in an interactive small group setting. Updates in the Evidence-Based Management of Obesity

  • Guideline recommendations for diagnosis, nonpharmacologic (nutrition, physical activity, behavioral) and pharmacologic treatment, treatment monitoring
  • Overview of therapeutic targets to address the underlying pathophysiology of weight regulation/obesity
  • Comparison of the mechanisms of action and efficacy and safety profiles for approved agents for the treatment of obesity
  • Latest evidence for current and emerging agents for the management of obesity
  • Individualizing treatment by identifying opportunities and approaches aligned with shared decision-making in obesity management

Test Your Obesity Management Knowledge: Interactive Patient Cases

  • 4-5 different patient cases will be developed by faculty. Learners will be divided into breakout groups to discuss patient cases.
  • Content in the case may include, but is not limited to:
    • Clinical, physical, behavioral evaluations
    • Comorbidity management, assessing for obesogenic medications
    • Individualizing treatment selection
    • Social/cultural considerations
    • Adverse event management
    • Monitoring therapy, including titrating, switching, discontinuing therapy
    • Referrals 

Uniting to Improve Obesity Outcomes: Multidisciplinary Panel Answers Your Questions

  • Multidisciplinary panel will discuss strategies to address common barriers in obesity care:
    • Access to obesity-related services, referrals, treatments
    • Identifying local or online obesity management resources: nutrition, behavioral health, physical activity
    • Appropriate use and challenges with long-term pharmacologic management
    • Education and training of staff
  • Question and answer session (30 minutes)

  • Design individualized treatment plans using evidence-based pharmacologic and nonpharmacologic treatments for the long-term management of patients with obesity
  • Evaluate practical approaches to enhance patient-centered obesity management in primary care
