Goal Statement
The goal of this activity is to improve learners’ knowledge, confidence, and competence in applying practice-changing clinical data and expert recommendations to integrate the use of currently available therapies for their patients with multiple myeloma. 

Target Audience
This program is intended for oncologists, nurses, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals on the multidisciplinary team in VHA institutions caring for patients with multiple myeloma. 

Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Initiate timely systemic treatment for appropriate patients based on the latest multiple myeloma diagnostic criteria, staging criteria, and risk factors
  • Develop individualized treatment strategies for patients with newly diagnosed multiple myeloma through consideration of the available clinical data as well as risk assessment, comorbidities, and patient age/fitness and preferences
  • Select optimal therapies for patients with relapsed/refractory multiple myeloma based on individual patient and disease characteristics, as well as response to and tolerance of previous therapies
  • Manage adverse events associated with new or novel multiple myeloma treatments
