CME/CE Info

Program Overview
Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are the most common bacterial infections seen in ambulatory care and lead to more than 8 million clinic visits each year. Uncomplicated UTIs can have a significant impact on patients, with treatment failure leading to several undesired outcomes, including further antibiotic prescribing, resistance, and increased healthcare costs. Join us for this program highlighting the most recent updates in managing uncomplicated UTIs across the spectrum of clinical care settings to optimize uncomplicated UTI care, prevent treatment failure, and reduce burden of disease.

Goal Statement
The goal of this program is to improve healthcare professionals’ knowledge of and competence in uncomplicated UTIs and treatment strategies to optimize patient care.

Target Audience
This program is intended for physicians, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, registered nurses, and physician associates practicing in primary care, infectious diseases, and emergency medicine or who otherwise care for patients with uncomplicated UTIs across various practice settings.

Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Identify risk factors for treatment failure in uncomplicated UTIs
  • Analyze the impact of treatment failure and burden of disease on both patients and the healthcare system
  • Incorporate evidence-based guidelines, standards of care, and expert opinion into the antimicrobial selection of therapy for uncomplicated UTIs
  • Develop strategies to overcome barriers to optimal care for patients with uncomplicated UTIs
