CME
Obesity is an epidemic that has serious adverse effects on patients seen by cardiologists. The educational program “Obesity as a Cardiovascular Risk Factor: Assessment and Management” will inform cardiologists about the effects of obesity on CVD, HF, and dysrhythmias and the benefit of weight loss, the efficacy and safety of agents FDA-approved to manage obesity and provide guidelines for starting and intensifying obesity treatment through shared decision making with patients.

The intended audience for this educational initiative is cardiologists, who are clinicians that manage patients with obesity and cardiovascular disease.
At the conclusion of this education, participants should be able to:
Characterize the physiologic effects of obesity and its comorbidities on the cardiovascular system
Discuss the cardiovascular advantages of managing obesity
Describe the efficacy and safety data for agents approved for the management of obesity and those in late-stage development
Develop evidence-based personalized management plans for obesity in concert with the patient using shared decision making

There is no fee for this activity. The estimated time for completion of this activity is 1.5 hour. To receive their certificates, participants must demonstrate mastery of the presented material via the post-test.
