About This Tool & Disclaimer

Clinical Care Options, LLC, is grateful to Toby A. Eyre, MBChB, MD; Arnon Kater, MD, PhD; Vincent Ribrag, MD; Stephan Stilgenbauer, MD; and Alessandra Tedeschi, MD, who provided expert guidance, knowledge, and support in the development of this Interactive Decision Support Tool.

Note: Expert recommendations were compiled in February 2025 and include the opinions of the experts at that time.

The goal of this tool is to educate healthcare professionals on making optimal treatment choices for patients with CLL who meet the International Workshop on Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia criteria for treatment.[Hallek 2018] These criteria include the presence of anemia because of bone marrow failure (hemoglobin <10 g/dL, platelets <100,000 μL), massive or progressive symptomatic lymphadenopathy or splenomegaly, progressive lymphocytosis, and disease-related constitutional symptoms (significant fatigue, unintentional weight loss, night sweats, fevers unrelated to infectious complications).

A series of multiple choice questions allows the user to select individual patient characteristics that are necessary to consider when making treatment choices. These characteristics include mutation status, treatment setting, patient age and fitness, previous therapy, presence of comorbidities, and reason for discontinuing treatment. It should be noted that these are not exclusive characteristics when making choices. Other considerations that are not included in this tool, such as the presence of additional comorbidities, also should be considered, if appropriate, when making overall treatment choices.

Based on the characteristics entered, the tool will display evidence-based recommendations for that specific patient case.
